Metrology Specialist

Description:
Metrology Specialist with experience in setup, build, and inspection of large tools and assembly structures. This role is for a hands-on person with great versatility with regard to building and assembling large precision structures. The first task of this role will be to execute the installation and setup of new production fixtures, tooling, and equipment in a new production facility. The specialist in this position will support the production tooling and equipment design and installation in order to create an efficient, organized, and lean factory. After production operations begin, the Metrology Specialist will work closely with production personnel to maintain equipment and tooling and contribute to process improvement using lean processes and tools. Metrology Specialists will also help with the large scale aircraft assembly steps and inspection.

Key Components of position
• Hands‐on Tooling assembly
• Large structure handling: driving a forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, etc. operating a crane or hoist, installing concrete mounting points in floor, accurately locating large or heavy structure to within .005” accuracy.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Utilizing CAD or 3D software for inspection (one or more of the following):
o PC Demus, Verisurf, Geomagic, Polyworks, Spacial Analyser, or similar
• Metrology
• Working with laser trackers or similar positioning systems

We have an outstanding Contract to Hire position for a Printed Wire Board Designer to join a leading American technology located in Cincinnati, OH.

The PWB Designer performs complex and difficult design tasks requiring the operation and application of Computer-Aided Design equipment and associated peripheral equipment. Experience:
• Must have system level engineering experience on engine installations. Turbo Prop install experience is preferable, but not mandatory.
• Must have a BS degree (BSAE, BSME)
• System testing required for PDR.
• Experience with layout and detail design of engine installation into aircraft for PDR.
• Spec out system parts.
• Coordinate/support manufacturing
• Select and manage suppliers
• Some experience with CAD software like Catia V5, UG NX, etc.
• Experience doing thermal analysis of engine installations.
• US Citizen highly preferred. Greencard could work, but much more difficult to place on program.
• Someone who has been a Project Engineer at UTAS/Collins Aerospace on an engine program would be perfect.

Description:
Seeking an experienced structures & systems test engineer to support testing of mechanical systems and avionics components, assemblies, and integrated systems. The main tasks of this role are to define test requirements with internal customers, write test plans, design test stands and execute tests under the direction of the Engineering lead and/or Manager. Engineers in this position are expected to have knowledge of industry standard test practices and methods as well as engineering skills in design and analysis to required to develop custom tests.

Your Mission:
• Design tests plans and equipment for validation of complex mechanical or structural components and systems.
• Write test plans and procedures to define and support execution of tests.
• Interface with internal customers on integrated program teams to establish and verify specific test requirements.
• Work with support teams and vendors to procure, manufacture and assemble test articles and test stand hardware and equipment.
• Analyze test data to verify test requirements and write test reports to document test results.
• Interface with external test laboratories to facilitate testing for design and analysis teams.
• Participate in the test engineering review, approval and release process.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of testing practices, including test processes, lab procedures and lab technology implementation.


What you bring:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a concentration in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• 4-8 years’ or more experience in aerospace with an emphasis on testing or equivalent laboratory test engineering experience
• CAD modelling experience – Experience with Catia V5 preferred
• Experience with simulation and finite element analysis preferred – NASTRAN, Femap
• Experience with DO-160 environmental test standards for mechanical systems
• Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA are highly desired
• Focus on safety and reliability in testing.
• Results oriented approach to completing test activities successfully.

Description:
Tool Design Engineer designs various tooling, fixtures for machining, welding, assembly, handling, ground support and composites tooling. This position will work directly with multiple engineering disciplines (Manufacturing, Product, Quality, Stress, etc.). The Tool Designer will also serve as technical support for tooling related issues on new and legacy product designs and manufacturing processes. Must have ability to prepare standard work packages for offload, and develop conceptual designs. In addition, be able to perform tool stress analysis.

Additional:
BS degree or 5-10 year's experience as a Tool Design Engineer in a Manufacturing Environment required (Aerospace prefered). Strong Mechanical/Manufacturing Aptitude. Good understanding of assembly, machining and composite manufactuiring processes. Good understanding of tool fabrication processes including welding, machining, heat treat, etc. Good understanding of ANSI Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, CATIA V5 MBD (2000 hours minimum) experience preferred. Experienced in Lean manufacturing principles and strong aptitude towards implementing continous improvement. Experienced in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.) and good technical writing skills. Experience with with tooling stress analysis in FEM and classical methods.

Nesco Resource has a great opportunity for a Tool Maker to work at a premiere Manufacturer in the North Branford, CT Area. The ideal candidate will be a self starter with the ability to work well with others in a diverse environment.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • The main responsibilities of a Toolmaker are: making, repairing, and maintaining precision tools (such as jigs, molds and dies), which are then used in the manufacturing process to make products.

  • Proficiency in using the following type of equipment: CNC, milling machine, lathe, grinding wheel, etc.

  • The position interfaces with our design engineering in order to provide input as to the manufacturability of parts being designed.  

  • The candidate has to be able to work independently and be self-motivated.  Computer proficiency is required to be able to program the CNC machine and CAD software. 

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


 

Qualifications

Education:



This position requires a minimum of a High School Education, or GED.

Toolmaker Apprenticeship Program certified by the State of Connecticut preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities:

 

  • Ability to read and interpret internal and or customer requirements and be able to follow detailed instructions including drawings and blueprints.

  • Computer skills including CAD, MS Office and Outlook.

Job Description:
Develops and maintains cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs. Analyzes results and performs design reviews. Leads the team to analyze results and performs design reviews. Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests). Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities. Develops complex statements of work, metrics, schedules and budgets. Performs technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection. Works under minimal direction.

Familiarity with wire harness design and electronic unit placement for aerospace applications a must. Unigraphics NX CAD experience required.

Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
