  • This role will gain valuable engineering experience in the area of design requirements including capture, design, validation, troubleshooting, and certification of aircraft avionic and electrical systems.
  • Working with managers and key players in Engineering, Candidates will assist in the development and evaluation of crucial systems on Aviation Products.
  • Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical system interface wiring using computer based drafting tools (CATIA/CCD and/or IAI HarnesSys).
  • Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for system troubleshooting in the lab and on aircraft.
  • Prepare engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans, certification reports, and other engineering documents.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
•          Bachelor’s Degree in required Electrical Engineering,
•          FAA designee (ODA UM or DER) -14 CFR Part 23 Chart C2 – Systems & Equipment Electrical
•          Experience with complex certification projects integrating multiple systems
•          Minimum of 3-4 years of engineering experience or relative aviation technical or systems experience.

QUALIFICATONS:
•          Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills required.
•          Experience with avionics and electrical system design to the requirements of 14 CFR Part 23 preferred.
•          Experience with computer-aided wiring diagram and harnessing software is desired. Mentor Graphics preferred.
•          Experience with electrical wiring, harnessing, and manufacturing is strongly desired.
•          Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required, Visio experience preferred.

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical system interface wiring using computer based drafting tools (IAI HarnesSYS). 

• Perform analysis requiring frequent application of engineering principles.

Provides technical expertise in testing aircraft systems, troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact. Demonstrates technical expertise by implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising safety or quality. May fill in for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician thus ensuring that the company goals of safety and quality are enforced at all times while adhering to daily work plans to maintain schedule requirements. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
  • Performs the installation and functionally testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system.
  • Ensures quality and efficiency of all installations: troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.

  • In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:



  • High School graduate/GED.
  • A & P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.
  • Four (4) years experience in an avionics/electrical career field; or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and two (2) years related experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines other than avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs.

2. Background/Need
Group 108 works to understand air defense issues, in particular, air vehicle survivability, vulnerability of U.S. Air Force (USAF) aircraft to weapons systems, electronic countermeasures, and air surveillance for homeland defense. The focus is on understanding USAF and threat air defense systems through tests and measurements. Test activities include flight, field, and laboratory testing. We operate three airplanes, all highly instrumented and numerous ground systems as needed for test efforts. We also develop new hardware for testing and prototype systems as well as for instrumenting existing sensors. Group 108 requires for one full time Engineer to support the aircraft structural modification project.
3. Position Scope/Job Functions
Candidate will be responsible for the management of a multi-year transformation of a Gulfstream IV-SP into the next Airborne Sensor Test Bed (ASTB). The project entails major airframe modifications including fuselage and wing strengthening, the integration of under wing / centerline instrumentation pods, nose and tail electromagnetic and optical sensors, a sonobuoy or dropsonde release system and major electrical/data infrastructure. Candidate will participate in overseeing vendors performing the necessary aircraft modifications and ensuring that the work is properly executed, documented and delivered on schedule. Support will also include design and conduct of a flight test program to demonstrate compliance with modifications specifications and to obtain FAA approvals for continued operations. Related work will include establishment of a configuration management program and documentation archive to support the aircraft throughout its life.
4. Skills: Required
- Direct program management experience of significant aircraft structural modifications
- Experience with sensor and or mission system integration to turbine powered aircraft

Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements. - Review any required shipper and/or importer declarations for required information
- Advise program contacts on client requirements for import documentation

- Interface with client SME's to obtain required PGA statements and documents
- Interface with client SME's to obtain item missing item information

The selected candidate will perform aircrew duties as a member of the P-8A Integrated Test Team with Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero (VX-20) at NAS Patuxent River, MD. Candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support P-8A flight testing, including participation in technical meetings, analysis of test requirements, test plan preparation, drafting detailed test procedures, conducting or supervising data collection in flight simulators, aircraft ground and flight environments, writing daily test reports, problem/deficiency reports and tracking. Past or current designation as a Non-Acoustic Systems Operator (EWO) in P-3C/P-8A aircraft is required.

Description:
The Software Engineer will work with a global team of engineers in Phoenix and India, on real time embedded software for electronic control units for aerospace applications. The role will involve requirements definition using DOORS or structured modelling, detailed design, code implementation using embedded C, validation of requirements and verification of implementation. It also includes managing Problem reports for the software that has already been delivered.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills and work well in a team environment.
Primary Responsibilities
• Executing new product introduction, value engineering, and production support projects
• Establishes software design requirements traceability, flow down requirements, development of code and test cases.
• Hands on debugging of code during integration and lab testing.
• Developing complex sub-system trade studies, algorithms, and error budgets.
• Driving the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost effective technical solutions with heavy focus on platform design, reuse, and knowledge-management.

Qualifications
• Proficient with C programming language, and embedded systems in a lab environment.
• Experience with Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, and/or DSPs
