Job Description:
1. This position is deployed to the Revolutionary Technology Programs (RTP) team to provide technical support for optical, thermal, and plasma experiments.
2. Expected to support team’s performance on projects related to the analysis, design, and testing of optical systems, thermal and plasma physics experiments.

Development Engineer

Description:
PDS TECH INC is currently looking for a Development Engineer  for our client in Santa Clarita. 

Responsibilities include perform and report on testing relating to the development of engines, engine systems or other powertrain systems as required.  
Collect Data from testing on dynamometers, test rigs, and any other external test facilities.  
Subsequent analysis and reporting is required.  
Development may include performance, cost function, drivability and/or reliability of engines, engine systems and/or powertrain components per project goals.  
Must complete writing test requests, daily progress reports and test reports.
Present a concise presentation of testing results, analysis, conclusions and suggestions for future development as needed.


Requirements are: BS degree in (Mechanical/Electrical) Engineering with relevant automotive focus in studies and activities preferred.
1 to 3 years’ experience with Formula SAE or similar automotive or motorsports related projects a plus;
Experienced with 3D CAD software and reading schematic drawings.
Must have strong data analysis, problem-solving and report writing skills. Ability to utilize on-car data analysis software (logged data, telemetry, etc.); program software (MATLAB/Simulink, C+, Visual Basic, etc.) and analyze with simulation tools such as FEA, CFD, etc.
Must have the ability to work in team environment with minimal supervision, be self directed, detailed oriented.

Summary:

The Drive System Design Engineer is responsible for design activities related to preparation and release of engineering data for complex mechanical components including gears, bearings, shafts, housings and other supporting components as well as subsystem integration. Position Responsibilities:

Create detail, assembly and installation drive system design definition in the form of 2D and 3D technical data utilizing CAD software and various analytical tools.

Qualifications:

Mechanical design experience with 2D/3D modeling, requirement capture and specification development is required.
Experience working in an aerospace or automotive environment, focused on mechanical components such as gears, bearings, shafting, etc. is required.
Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, focused on mechanical component manufacturing processes such as metal machining, heat treatments, and other specialized processes.
Proficiency with mechanical design computational tools such as various CATIA v6, UG v5, and/or ProE.
Proficiency with Mathcad, Matlab, FEM software (ANSYS, etc.), AB Jones, KIMOS, AGMA related analysis tools, etc.
Proficiency with basic office computer software, specifically the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.) is required.
Must have working knowledgeable of GD&T requirements.
Strong analytical ability is required.
Must have demonstrated success working in a team environment and articulating technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.
Must have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of activities and tasks while dealing with change.
Previous experience working with PLM software such as ENOVIA to drive product lifecycle is preferred.
Previous experience working on cross functional engineering programs is preferred.
Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering is required.
Other equivalent engineering disciplines will be considered with sufficient applicable experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assembly of components to aerospace standards working from blueprints, engineering orders, schematics, repair manuals and other technical documents

  • Termination and installation of wire harnesses and tubing

Education and/or Experience:

6+ years’ experience in an engineering classification.
3 years of CAD design.
5 years of Electrical/Mechanical design or installation.
3 years of Aerospace industry (preferred).

Knowledge/Skills:
Exercises broad latitude in determining technical solutions.
Is considered an expert in engineering principles, theories, technologies, and concepts in the assigned discipline.
Working knowledge of configuration management.
Understanding of product lifecycle management.
Knowledge of Fabrication/Manufacturing processes for applicable designs.
