Mechanical Designer

Description:
* Looking for someone with SolidWorks Composer software exp (it?s a CAD Model animation software package)
* Although the emphasis is Mechanical Design, the ideal candidate should have some exposure to electrical design drawings as well.

Summary

The Designer will prepare rough sketches, with a focus on Mechanical Design and Drafting, by studying customer specifications and creating a picture of the system, components and/or parts to support sales and marketing.

Duties / Responsibilities:
> Applies standard design practices through the use of welding, machining, manufacturing and assembly drawing symbols, descriptions and call outs.
> Prepares final drawings by studying engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents.
> Develops layouts of the system, sub-systems, and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials
> Maintains engineering data base by entering data and completing backups.
> Mechanical design of enclosures, test fixtures and detailed electronics packages utilizing SolidWorks modeling software; design components for various fabrication processes including milling, turning, injection molding and sheet metal forming.
> Creates designs with appropriate dimensions, tolerances and part finishes while considering manufacturing technology; generates fabrication/assembly drawings of components & assemblies using ASME Y14.5 standards
> Reverse engineer complex components and assemblies; contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
> Develop / design of fabrication & assembly drawings of system components/assemblies
> Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, conferring with engineers, vendors, technicians and clients
> Identify & verify specifications by examining engineering docs & performing calculations

Requirements:
> 7+ years? work experience in computer aided drafting with an Associate?s Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent technical school training; U.S. Citizen is required
> 3-D modeling, SolidWorks (preferred)
> Experience in mechanical design and layout preferably in specialized packaging solutions
> Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations
> Experience with machine processes, mechanical fabrication, materials and assembly processes a plus
