Stress Engineer

Description:
The Structural Analysis Section in the Antenna Systems Department within the Mechanical Engineering Directorate is responsible for performing detailed structural, dynamic, and kinematic analyses on Mechanical Systems and can be called upon to support environmental testing. The candidate will plan and perform structural analysis of mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical systems and interpret structural analysis results. In addition, the candidate may be called upon to plan, witness, and interpret results of structural testing.
Required Skills:
* 6+ years of experience in structural analysis including finite element modeling working from CAD geometries
* Strong analytical skills in both statics and/or dynamics
* Experience analyzing structures and electronic equipment
Desired Skills:
* Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in structural analysis, mechanics of materials, and numerical methods
* Experience using structural analysis finite element software such as ANSYS or NASTRAN
* Experience analyzing to military standards and requirements
* Experience with CREO (Pro-E) or similar CAD tool
* Strong verbal, written (technical and non-technical) and presentation communication skills
* Effective and team supportive interpersonal communication skills
* Interacts well with team members across various disciplines, including mechanical and electrical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and the program office
* Demonstrated task leadership within a team environment
* Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks with changing priorities and interruptions.
* Adept with Microsoft software, such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Required Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering . Coursework in structural analysis, mechanics of materials and numerical methods is preferred
