Principal FPGA Design Engineer_CLEARANCE

Description:
Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform FPGA design, simulation, and documentation using product families such as Xilinx Kintex7, Virtex7, Zynq, Ultrascale, RFSoc and Altera Stratix.
• Conduct testing of products using high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, signal analyzers, Matlab, and FPGA debugging tools.
• Define and develop specifications and test procedures.
• Can review and critique designs created by peers and/or junior engineers.
• Is proficient at recognizing the unique design requirements such as safety and reliability architectures associated with military applications.
• Compiles and analyzes test data to determine design effects on electrical circuits for military applications.
• Define development test plans and methods to ensure a robust design is achieved.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

TOP SKILLS: FPGA Design experience, Subject matter expert in coding VHDL/Verilog, preferably experience with Xilinx FPGAs and respective firmware tools. Proficient in digital verification, validation, and debug. Digital logic design experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree in EE or Computer Engineering and 9 years of relevant experience or a Master’s Degree with 7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in FPGA design and development using VHDL or Verilog.
• Experience with Simulation tools.
• Experience with setting and managing design constraints to meet critical timing requirements.
• Experience with FPGA design verification using hardware verification and debugging tools.
• Experience in the use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Experience in creating and managing technical documentation such as architecture and interface control documents.
• Experience in Hardware/Software integration.
• Experience in lead engineering role.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a development team to understand system level interdependencies that impact circuit requirements and design constraints

Preferred Skills
• Experience in bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS-232, JESD204B.
• VHDL.
• Digital implementations of low pass, bandpass, and high pass filters.
• Digital implementations of comb filter and Hilbert transform filter.
• Experience with Intel Arria 10/Max 10.
• Experience with Modelsim, Xilinx Vivado, Synplicity, MATLAB, Quartus, Simulink.
• FPGA Digital Signal Processing implementation.
• Experience with bus functional models.
• Is familiar with unique test requirements associated with military electronics such as extreme temperature testing.
• Preferably an Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines, design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
