Mechanical System Engineer

Description:
The Mechanical System Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager the Mechanical Systems Engineer prepares test plans; models test units and oversee testing in accordance to stated requirements. Areas of testing include environmental, vibration, airflow, and acoustic. Plans and designs mechanical equipment and the systems in which they are installed, this includes oversight of the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment. Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, or techniques. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, or equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• There must be an awareness of aircraft systems and the certification framework within which the systems are qualified and certified.
• Tasks include: writing test plans and test reports along with coordinating test activities between all participants.
• Must be effective in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Reviews project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy.
• Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and manufacturing difficulties.
• Coordinates project activities with outside suppliers, other engineering units or other business units to facilitate project completion.
• To undertake the checking of detail, sub-assembly, general assembly and installation drawings.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering disciplines (e.g. Fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, heat transfer, structural dynamics, acoustics etc.)
• Experience in testing small aircraft component testings (e.g. Faucet, water heaters, pumps etc. or something similar)
• Performs other related duties as required

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering or related field from four-year college or university; a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be effective in 3D modeling and use of PDM systems.

• Knowledge of Potable Water and Waste Systems
• Proficiency in Unigraphics NX7 or higher and TeamCenter is preferred.
• Aircraft interiors experience a must.
