Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Certification Engineer

Description:
The Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer is responsible for oversight of internal and external (as required) Software/Hardware/Systems Process Assurance by participating in reviews and conducting audits throughout the product development life cycle. Activities are in compliance with Company and regulatory
requirements.

Responsibilities
• Supports and/or leads the development and execution of system/software/firmware quality assurance plans in order to comply with internal and regulatory specifications
• Assures system/software/firmware development process is executed according to internal and regulatory requirements through process audits, reviews and evaluations
• Participates in Planning, Requirements, Design and Coding reviews or audit reviews and their output as specified in the System Process Assurance Plan (SYSPAP)/Software Quality Assurance Plan (SQAP), and/or Hardware Process Assurance Plan (HPAP)
• Participates in the integration and test lifecycle as specified in the SYSPAP/SQAP/HPAP including reviewing or witnesses build and load procedures, audits of test cases and procedures, conduct Test Readiness Review, witness testing, approve transition criteria and conduct Software Conformity Review
• Maintains accurate quality assurance records for assigned projects per the SYSPAP, SQAP and/or HPAP
• Develops software quality metrics and conduct process improvement activities
• Liaison with development and verification engineers as required ensuring requirements are clearly communicated and resulting product meets all requirements.
• Provides support for FAA audits during development projects by way of leading audits, test witnessing and responding to questions/emails
• Provides guidance to development team(s) for certification questions and/or issues

Requirements
• B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or a relevant field
• Thorough understanding of FAA Software/Firmware requirements (RTCA/DO-178 and RTCA/DO-254)
• 5+ years of related technical experience
• Familiarity with FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) Handbook Requirements (Order 8110.37) and ability to meet (within 12 months) the majority of requirements for Software and/or Airborne Electronic Hardware DER in preparation to become a Company DER
• Responsible for performing job duties in a manner consistent with established Policies and Procedures
• Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives
• Frequent inter-organizational and outside company contacts
• Demonstrates understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including writing skills
• Ability to work without supervision. Independent problem solver.
• Works with other disciplines to support goals of the business
• Possesses foresight in identifying future problems and proposes potential solutions to the team (proactive).
• Intermediate Microsoft Office experience

Desired
• Knowledgeable on System Process Assurance requirements (SAE/ARP4754)
• Knowledgeable on FAA Database requirements (RTCA/DO-200)
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
• CSQE (Certified Software Quality Engineer)
• Experience utilizing Software and System Quality Assurance specifications such as AS9100, AS9006, AS9115 and ARP4754
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Polarian, Collaborator and SharePoint
• Experience implementing CMMI program
• Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing experience
