Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer

Description:
Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing electrical systems on general aviation aircraft which includes integration of modern avionics equipment.

Create manufacturing instructions that production teams use to create and install their designs.
Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for customers, ensuring a high degree of fleet readiness.
Candidate will need to have a wide range of electrical aviation knowledge with previous experience in electrical and electromechanical integration.

In this role, responsibilities include:
• Designing new electrical systems for aircraft. This includes function analysis, product sourcing, and manufacturability.
• Participating in new aircraft certification IAW 14CFR.
• Coordinating with relevant DERs on system design and acceptance.
• Technically justify designs and collaborate with regulatory authorities.
• Creating, reviewing, and submitting technical reports that support certification.
• Creating manufacturing drawings (work instructions) that production teams use to create electrical systems.
• Troubleshooting existing aircraft systems and lead repair, replacement, and/or redesign efforts.
• Leading product improvement efforts in both minor and major change categories.
• Coordinating and collaborate with internal structures, system, and flight test engineers on aircraft design, function, and certification.
• Mentoring and training junior engineers on electrical and avionics principles.

Minimum requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university (relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).
• 8 (eight) years or more of relevant experience in designing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems typical of piston and turbine-powered aircraft.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Experience using 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience using Electronic Product Data Management (EPDM) systems.
• Experience creating professional and efficiently written reports based on technical subjects.
• Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 23.
