Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:
****MUST have an Active Secret Clearance or to have had one within the last two (2) years****

Job Description:
- Designs and oversee the plant or manufacturing systems, fabrication, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, production machinery, and other material-handling equipment used in fabrication, assembly, and other production functions; analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data, and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts; oversees the construction of machine and subassemblies considering such specifications as gear ratios, bearing loads, and direction of moving parts; compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of design on machines in relation to factors such as temperature, pressures, speed, horsepower, and fuel consumption.

Basic Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D parametric modeling and drafting in CATIA or similar tool
- Experience with Teamcenter or similar PDM/PLM software tool
- Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment to meet objectives
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
- Experience with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university

Desired skills:
- Familiarity with C-130 or other similar fixed wing or military aircraft
- Experience working in an aerospace environment with exposure to DoD customers
- Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.100 or similar design and drafting standards
- Familiarity or experience with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience designing, or working with, sheet metal and machined components
- Experience with creation, review, and approval of engineering change documentation
- Experience with an engineering change process and/or configuration control process

Education:
- Level 2: BS+3-5 YRS or MS+0-3 YRS
