Human Performance Analyst and Investigator

Description:
Currently looking for an experienced Human Performance Analyst to fill an opening with a company located in Moses Lake, WA. Interested candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Human Factors, Risk Management, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautics, or a related field, along with at least 2 years’ experience after earning a bachelor’s degree, working directly as a specialist or instructor of human factors or human performance or flight physiology.

Responsibilities of the Human Performance Analyst

Serve as the safety team’s expert on human performance, team dynamics, and flight physiology.
Advise aircrew, dispatchers, test managers, and the Flight Test Safety Officer on scientific aspects of human psychology, physiology, ergonomics, and anthropometrics.
Provide human performance insights to help the Flight Test Safety Officer prepare Test Hazard Analyses, Safety Review Boards, and related functions.
Assess proposed flight manual changes and procedures for adherence to best practices in human performance.
Work with the Flight Test Safety Officer to develop a program of non-punitive observation of flight simulations.
Perform the observations, then debrief the flight crew and trend the data collected in a fashion similar to Line Operations Safety Assessments (LOSAs), but limited to the simulator.
Carefully review event reports and newly found hazards for human elements and how they impact risk and potential mitigations.
Develop and administer psychographic surveys to determine safety cultures and climates present in different parts of the organization, trend how they change over time, and analyze possible causes responsible for the changes.
Establish, adjust, and track Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and Allowable Levels of Safety Performance (ALoSP) associated with human performance, as part of SMS Safety Assurance requirements.
Create original and customized courseware in CRM/TEM and human performance for the unique intercultural employees and then coordinate with other members of the safety team to facilitate and instruct using innovative methods that use the most modern education and training technology.
Provide expert insights on the psychological barriers to change as new safety initiatives are fielded.
Create a system for tracking the currency of aircrew flight physiology training, to include altitude chamber initial and recurrent training.
Perform ergonomic assessments of workplace settings, ranging from aircraft seating to office functions conducive to repetitive stress disorder.
Work shifts as the “on-call” safety representative for time-sensitive safety issues, to include occasionally being on-call after normal business hours.
Assist and/or lead incident investigations and participate in management review of all serious incidents.
Develops and implements the human performance elements of the Risk Management (RM) program and instructs strategic and real-time RM principles to employees and executive staff.
Participate in annual budget and requirements development process for the safety team.


Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Human Factors, Risk Management, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautics, or a related field.
At least 2 years’ experience after earning a bachelor’s degree, working directly as a specialist or instructor of human factors or human performance or flight physiology.
Current driver's license and current civilian passport or ability to obtain passport.
Ability to pass drug screening test.
Respectful of other national and professional cultures and possessing a willingness to learn about other cultures.
Ability to use computers and associated software programs, such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to integrate smoothly into a fast-paced technological environment while remaining calm in situations where others may be overwhelmed.
Ability to field and prioritize a multitude of near simultaneous request from different members of a team while remaining courteous, positive, and effective.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting safety and human factors information.
Excellent interpersonal skills and intercultural sensitivity to work effectively with all levels of an international organization.
Preferred

Master’s degree in Safety, Human Factors, Risk Management, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautics, or a related field.
At least 2 years’ experience after earning a master’s degree, working directly as a specialist or instructor of human factors or human performance or flight physiology.
An understanding of the ICAO or FAA SMS organizing framework.
Experience conducting human factors analyses, such as task analyses and human error analyses, associated with accidents, incidents, or voluntary hazard reporting such as the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP).
