Metrology/Quality Engineer

Description:
This Metrologist position is in support of the Stratford, Ct. Metrology Lab. The Metrologist will be expected to communicate between hourly represented and salary team members. In this role, the Metrologist will:

• Develop and evaluate calibration procedures, methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, accuracy and precision requirements that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and derived units of physical or chemical measure.
• Identify magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms.
• Test, calibrate, repair and adjust, electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements.
• electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments
• general purpose electronic test equipment including, but not limited to: signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and frequency counters, multimeter, temperature.
• Perform non-routine and moderately complex work assignments. Employee will be required to perform the duties of a calibration technician in all functional disciplines of calibration. Technical assistance and guidance will be provided on special assignments or new lines of work.
• Calibrate and evaluate the need for repair of various other disciplines of test equipment including, but not limited to: RF power, microwave and high frequency, temperature, and dimensional measurements.
• Support the organization in sustaining accreditation to ANSI Z540.1 standards.
• Write/update/modify Metrology procedures in compliance with Z540-1 standards including uncertainty budgets.
• Complete and maintain accurate records in and evaluate reports from the calibration management databases, including but not limited to Out of Tolerance Report closeout.
• Primarily internal company contacts. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
• Provide guidance to Metrology Lab technicians.
• Provide guidance in training of lab technicians
• Provide adhoc customer service for problem resolution

Experience Preferred:

The ideal candidate will have Engineering and/or Quality aerospace manufacturing and aircraft maintenance experience and:
• Possess ability to understand and communicate typical engineering and manufacturing concepts and processes
• Have knowledge and experience of inspection processes and methods, as well as the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and other engineering technical data required
• Must be organized and detail oriented
• Experience with electrical/electronic calibrations.
• Experience with physical dimensional calibrations.
• Experience with the use and troubleshooting of automated calibration software procedures: Met/CAL, SureCal, Agilent VEE, etc.
• Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and successfully achieve business objectives.
• Ability to work cross-functionally across the enterprise to provide superior customer support and efficiently resolve issues.
• Ability to work in a team environment

Education:

Bachelor degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Quality, Aerospace or related field required.
Completion of a DoD TMDE/Calibration training program.

- Supplement calibration on Electronic bench, write, review and update calibration procedures. General technical support of Metrology lab
