Completions Manufacturing Stress and Optimization TS I

Position Purpose:
Assists with the planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of company products and services.

Unique Skills:
• Responsibilities include taking current parts and running topology optimization simulations. Performing stress analysis on optimized parts for metal and composite materials to ensure requirements are met. Support innovative generative designs of interior furnishings and amenities to be produced with additive manufacturing for current and future aircraft. Collaborate closely with Additive Manufacturing group, Industrial R&D design, materials and process group and Structural AR's providing guidance and approval for new part designs and upgrades. Example designs include custom cabinetry such as tables, seats, ledges, credenzas, bureaus, end cabinets, galleys, lavatories, closets, and other storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations. Analysis is done utilizing classical hand analysis and Finite Element Modeling using ALTAIR products, optimization tools and FEMAP with Nastran.
• Must have working knowledge of additive manufacturing in polymer and preferred also with metallic. Understanding certification requirements based on title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR - especially Chapter I, Part 25), as it pertains to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation procedures and the STC process as it relates to certification of Aircraft Interiors.
• Candidates should have a sufficient knowledge of AutoCAD and CATIA V5 to adequately review new and existing engineering designs. FEA experience with ALTAIR or other optimization tools required.
• Assignments are executed under the direction of the Engineering Lead or Group Head to meet Engineering, Certification and manufacturing schedules. Additional responsibilities are outlined in the job description and as assigned.

Cabinetry Design Engineer (Catia V5)

Description:
This position requires a strong, motivated and resourceful problem solver who has direct design engineering experiences in the aircraft interior cabinetry design and can make independent decisions on engineering design issues based on project requirements, company standards and engineering practices. The Design Engineer will be responsible for applying industry standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to generate CAD models and engineering drawings using CATIA V5 in a PDM environment, under the supervision of the Project Engineer.

The qualified candidate will offer, as a minimum, the following key technical skills and experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in the cabinetry design of an aircraft modification and/or VIP Completions industry.
  • Ability to generate engineering drawings for the production of interior details and assemblies for integration into transport category aircraft fuselage structures.
  • Knowledge in geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices as well as drawing arrangement and set-up for multi-sheet drawings as outlined by ANSI/ASME Y14 or MIL-STD-100G Engineering Drawing Practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with glass / epoxy honeycomb composite panel assemblies.
  • Knowledge and experience with interfaces with airframe.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working in person in an office environment collaborating with other teammates.

    The following CAD experience/software capabilities are desired:
  • CATIA V5
  • ENOVIA V6 or 3DX
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Word, Excel and Project)

    Stress MRB Engineer (Increased Rates)

    Description:
    Position Purpose:
    Assists with the planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of company products and services

    Unique Skills:
    Must have a minimum of 10 years is stress analysis on primary aircraft structure.
    Must have a minimum of five years experience in fatigue analysis on primary aircraft structures.
    Experience developing and substantiating aircraft structural repairs is a plus.
    CATIA V5 experience is a must.

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
    5 ys in specific technical discipline or 10 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors.
    Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
    Contributes to planning, developing and coordinating of important engineering projects
    Provides specialized technical assistance to team members
    Uses advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
    Determines and develops own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives
    Works under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives
    Acts as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area

    Additional Functions:
    Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements
    Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product
    Perform other duties as assigned.
    Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred.
    The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
