Mechanical Design Engineer - Completions

Description:
This role guides successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Company products and services. Required Design responsibilities primarily involve the design and development of new and/or derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new, custom, and in-service aircraft. 

Unique Skills: 

Examples of experiences should include, but are not limited to: 

Custom Cabinetry (galleys, lavatories, vanities, closets, storage compartments) 

Interior peripheries (cabin liners, window panels, passenger service units (PSUs), dado panels, and side ledges) 

Miscellaneous (water/waste systems, oxygen systems, seating) 

Design and build models and prints demonstrating a complete understanding of construction methodologies required for component parts and assemblies?to an end item level. 

Must understand and demonstrate knowledge of the product development process from concept to production and through sustaining. 

Design installations for the aforementioned commodities along with necessary airframe modifications to meet load requirements of the interior installation?and should have the competency with Weight and Center of Gravity Analysis. 

Experience with Part 25 aircraft and some familiarity with Part 135 requirements. 

Engineering design work includes the creation of drawings/models using either CATIA V5 interconnected with SmarTeam. 

Required to liaison with Operations, Suppliers, Procurement, Quality, and other departments engineering issues relating to design and validation through?prototyping and reliability testing. 

Assignments will include assembly/installation, similarity, mounting, and functionality analysis with each configuration developed, along with any other?requirements necessary to product development. 

Ability to employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods as directed to meet the manufacturing, quality, and schedule requirements. 

Makes technical decisions and provides recommendations 

Acts independently to determine improved methods to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements

Completions Certification Engineer

Description:
This Certification Engineer position is for the Completions Certification Engineering team. This team supports completion related activities for new designs of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new client specific aircraft along with supporting other Certification related activities. 

 

Must have a thorough working knowledge of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR - especially Chapter I, Part 25), as it pertains to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation procedures and the STC process as it relates to certification of Aircraft Interiors. 

Candidate should have experience creating certification documents such as ICAs, Ground/Flight Test Plans, Compliance Checklists, Project Specific Certification Plans, etc. 

This position requires experience in program management, effective communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate Company certification programs for alterations and modifications. 

Assignments are executed under the direction of the Completions Engineering Manager to meet the Engineering, Certification and Manufacturing schedules. Additional responsibilities are outlined in the job description and as assigned.

Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities.

Description:

Position Responsibilities:

Liaison engineers will troubleshoot problems arising from the build, installation, and certification of Company aircraft interiors.

Creation of corrective engineering for new and/or derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new, custom, and in-service aircraft.

Liaison engineering responsibilities include updating/revising engineering data, creating new engineering, and/or coordinating the corrective engineering to relevant parties.

Additional duties include developing alternative design approaches, including establishing design verification.

 Required Skills:

Successful applicants will be self-motivated, and able to develop an approach from initial procedure review, data processing, task optimization, and specifically communication of technical information to a wide range of audiences, meeting customer needs.

Experience using CATIA V5 to create/update/modify design engineering drawings/models.

Ability to employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods as directed to meet the manufacturing, quality, and schedule requirements.

Candidates should have a willingness to work off-shift and weekend hours on occasion when program milestones require.

Primary Responsibilities:

Job Description:

  • Seeking Aircraft Cabin Interior Specialists to support the Interior Repair Team based out San Antonio, Tx.

  • This position will perform decorative interior repair in the aircraft cabin on assemblies made from various types of material including fiberglass, plastic and composites using various methods, including but not limited to painting and sweep and fill.

  • This job is performed at various stages of the aircraft assembly process, in factory and/or flight line locations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and instructions to select correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, standards, and hardware used to install, fit, fasten, align, adjust and perform the necessary per-installation and installation of interiors.

  • Understanding of proper cleaning methods, surface preparation, cleaning, and masking for rework.

  • Majority of responsibility is for non-baseline work requiring interpretation of established processes and instructions to troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex non-standard work.

  • Work independently with limited direction from lead and manager.

  • Report and work to resolve job constraints including but not limited to errors caused by workmanship, defects in parts, materials, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc., in accordance with company procedures.

  • Exhibit exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards. Maintain clean, neat, organized and FOD free work area.

  • Possess understanding and knowledge of basic computer systems and programs.

  • Ability to correspond with internal teams and external suppliers and customers with dignity, respect and integrity while exhibiting our values at all times.

Required Qualifications (Experience/Skills):

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Aircraft Painter/Interior Finisher expereince.

  • Experience prepping, sanding, wet sanding, buffing, painting/spraying, detailing and on- site support and repairs.

  • Extensive knowledge in working with raw veneers, primers, polyesters, and urethane clears.

  • Experience working on various materials like composite, veneer, wood, plastic, and fiberglass.

  • Ability to work a variable shift.

  • 3+ years of aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing experience working with decorative finishes.

  • Required technical skills include file, sand, paint, decorative laminate ("declam"), and cosmetic rework (ex. paint color match, surface texture match, etc.)

  • Ability to perform the following requirements: Rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, climbing/balancing, flexion/extension, lifting and carrying less than 35 pounds, contact with liquid coatings, plastics, sealants and solvents, exposure to noise, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm, and ears. There will also be a requirement to work in elevated and/or confined spaces in indoor temperature-controlled environments as well as outdoor open environments.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Experience/Skills):

  • Experience specialized in design and/or analysis of aircraft interior modifications .

  • 3+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years aerospace experience in cabin systems interiors (ex. galleys, lavatories, stowage, first and business class seats, interior liners, etc.)

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensures parts/assembly meet requirements.

  2. Possess the proven ability to move to new tasks with only a moderate, short-term impact to established goal hours and schedule.

  3. Rivet structural members, assemblies and parts using all tools required. to do the job (e.g. portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets). Must display the ability to remove fasteners without damaging structures.

  4. Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type size and hole pattern for rivets.

  5. Check all work and ensure a defective free assembly prior to final inspection.

Job Description

Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensures parts/assembly meet requirements.

Rivet structural assemblies and parts using all tools required. to do the job (e.g. portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets).

Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type size and hole pattern for rivets.

Check all work and ensure a defective free assembly prior to final inspection.

Maintain and use all logs and records (e.g. MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).

Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.

Role Overview:

As an Avionics/Electrical Tech II, you will provide technical expertise in testing aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and repairing system discrepancies. Essential Functions:

  1. Demonstrate technical skills in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.

  2. Perform installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft per engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals.

  3. Troubleshoot processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.

  4. Effectively repair or replace defective components and wiring to ensure installations meet conformity using acceptable practices such as splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring.

  5. Perform and comply with engineering changes and modifications as required.

  6. Set up and operate necessary test equipment, conducting functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.

  7. Ensure that all work performed on the aircraft is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection.

  8. Test and maintain test equipment, electronic systems, and components.

Additional Functions:

  • Support aircraft certification and final phase testing, which may include flight tests as required.

Other Requirements:

  • Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, and environmental controls.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Four (4) years of experience in an avionics/electrical career field or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and two (2) years of related experience.

  • A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license, FCC license, and NCATT certification preferred.

  • Observe and assist to become familiar with parts and assemblies, then works with decreasing supervision as experience is gained.

Job Description

Perform Transmission Planning functions within the Transmission Planning group responsible for New York. Establish transmission development/expansion plans for the optimized, safe and effective management of our transmission assets with respect to thermal (powerflow), stability, voltage, and short circuit requirements over their whole lifecycle in New York. Support Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act efforts directly and indirectly.

• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school is required. Ability to achieve a Master's Degree in Electrical Power Systems preferred.
• Minimum of 4 to 6 years of related experience and credentials.
• Ability to achieve Professional Engineering registration preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
• Experience with state-of-the-art techniques in power flow, and short circuit analysis PSS/E, MUST, PROBE, ASPEN and/or PowerGem TARA experience preferred.

Familiarity with transmission planning standards and criteria of NERC, NPCC.
• Experience within an RTO (such as ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, CAISO etc.) planning processes preferred.



Pay Details: $62.00 to $68.00 per hour
