Electrical Engineer - Power (OK)

Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW- KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
This position is for the power electrical engineer position. This candidate will provide technical expertise, project management, as well as, project development for the client's electrical system in this plant facility. This engineer will handle all aspects of this plant's electrical system and provide electrical engineering for capital improvement projects (refinery). There will be occasion where support will be needed in the instrumentation area. BSEE REQUIRED.

Key Job Duties and Job Responsibilities:
These key job elements are included but not limited to the Electrical Engineer position:

This candidate will be required to oversee power requirements and coordinate with other projects in progress. Conduct system analysis studies (load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, etc.) for capital improvement projects. Prepare electrical equipment specifications and obtain and review all vendor quotes for electrical equipment. Must interface with other engineering personnel, construction contractors, and vendors during the project. Ensure during planning all work is completed within corporate safety guidelines and promote same throughout the project to completion.

Additional job responsibilities required for this position are as follows:
Review and approve electrical drawings for projects pertaining to equipment location, one-line diagrams, electrical area classification and schematics. Prepare cost estimates (both budgetary and definitive) for current and future electrical projects. Must support multidisciplinary projects by providing electrical expertise and additional recommendations.

Must be able to participate in the development of work scope for electrical equipment related to turnaround and capital projects. Develop projects to meet the reliability division's objectives including reliability, capacity, growth, maintainability and expendability.

Inspections: will be required to perform safety inspections and initial startup safety reviews.

Cost Estimates: will be required to manage electrical projects, such as cost and scheduling, safety, and other miscellaneous from conceptual studies, design, construction and safe start-up. Will be required to perform preliminary engineering studies by preparing project objectives letter, milestone schedule and cost estimate for current projects and future projects.

Standards and Safety: Must adhere to company standards in electrical design, equipment specifications, construction and testing. Must have the ability to apply and interprete the National Electric Code and other applicable codes and standards (e.g. NFPA, API, UL, API, and other). Must adhre to the county and city regulations including special equipment approvals (UL) and building permits.

Additional skills/requirements:
1. Develop one-line diagrams that will accomplish the needs of a project and the reliability of the refinery.

b. Show protective relaying schemes.
1. Develop options and develop Substation layouts that will accomplish the need of a project and the reliability of the refinery.

b. Show equipment layout using appropriate working space requirements.
1. Brainstorm options and develop Medium Voltage and low voltage feeder routing using either cable tray or conduit in classified areas.
a. Use proper grounding.
b. Structural steel to run the tray on.
c. Interface between multiple engineering disciplines required to get the steel done.
1. Conduct and evaluate power studies (with ETAP) of electrical systems to verify that the new electrical equipment will work for:
a. Load Flow
b. Voltage Drop
c. Incident Energy (Arc Flash)
d. Short Circuit Current Analysis (Bracing)
1. Medium Voltage Switchgear experience in design
a. Writing specifications
b. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
c. Incorporating protective relaying schemes using Schweitzer relays
d. Familiar with Client Powervac switchgear and Client's new Entelliguard system
1. Medium Voltage MCC's (Specific to Allen Bradley)
a. Writing specifications
b. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
c. Brainstorm electrical schematics used to install the MCCs
d. Incorporating protective relaying schemes using Schweitzer relays
1. Medium Voltage Bus Duct
a. Writing specifications
b. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
1. Unit substation Medium & Low Voltage transformers
