NASA awards contract to OPR for flight dynamics support services — NASA has awarded a contract to OPR to provide the flight dynamics support services for its Engineering and Technology Directorate’s Mission and Systems Analysis Division. OPR will provide the services and related support to NASA’s division at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. OPR will provide for the study, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of spaceflight, airborne and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions. NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center houses scientists, engineers, and technologists involved in building spacecraft and instruments, and in delivering novel technologies to study the universe. It is also hosts Hubble operations and the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope, and is involved in managing communications between mission control and astronauts on-board the International Space Station.
NASA awards NSEETS contract to Aerospace Corporation — A $621 million NASA-wide specialized engineering, evaluation, and test services (NSEETS) contract has been awarded to Aerospace Corporation. Under the contract, Aerospace will provide services such as on- and off-site project and independent multidisciplinary engineering, consulting, monitoring, testing, and evaluation. It will also be responsible for analyses related to safety, mission assurance, cost, and schedule. The company will also assist NASA’s scientific studies requirements, including analyzing systems for handling and extra-terrestrial samples, define payloads to meet scientific goals as part of the contract. Further works will involve reviewing possible science goals for small, low-cost missions, and also examine the relevance of science concepts to specific missions. Aerospace will also perform technical studies such as analyze the possibility of instrument, spacecraft, mission designs, propulsion, and mission operations capabilities. The company will provide advanced laboratories to test and assess NASA’s engineering prototypes and space flight hardware.
